The man, who has not been named by Police, has been released on bail.

The Police are now conducting further enquiries.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the Police have reminded islanders that expressions of ‘hate’ will not be tolerated:

“The vast majority of comments relating to the Manchester attack have been that of support and sympathy and have shown a resilience that is shared across our community at times such as these.

“And although offensive comments have been very few and far between, we realise what an emotive subject this is and ask that the public to be mindful of comments that they post online. We don’t tolerate discrimination or any form of ‘hate’ incident.”
