Mr Cornish has always denied the charges and even took the stand to give evidence on his own behalf.
The case centred on allegations made by a woman who claimed that an argument between the two of them grew violent when he pushed his way into her house through an open window and punched and restrained her.
Now, a jury of seven women and five men have unanimously decided that Mr Cornish is ‘not guilty’ of the offence, having retired for just over two hours to consider their verdict.

Over the course of the trial, the jury heard testimony from both the complainant and the defendant who gave contrasting accounts of what took place on the evening in question.
Crown Advocate Julian Gollop led the prosecution case and Advocate Jeremy Heywood represented Mr Cornish.
The Bailiff Tim Le Cocq presided over the trial.
