A 52-year-old man has been taken to hospital with “serious injuries” after his motorbike caught fire earlier today, according to police.

The incident took place at around 13:50 on Saturday 14 June on Wellington Road in St Helier.

In an appeal for information, police said a red Ducati Monster was accelerating up the hill near the entrance to Beaulieu School.

The rider allegedly lost control, fell off, and collided with parking bollards – resulting in his motorbike catching fire.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the incident, according to the force.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.

The rider was treated by paramedics before being transported to the Emergency Department.

Police said his injuries are “serious but stable”, and he remains in hospital.

The area was closed to traffic for three hours.

Officers would like to speak with anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information, including dash cam footage or private premises CCTV.
