A survey has been launched to help the island’s Marine Resources team “build a clearer picture” of recreational fishing in Jersey.
Responses to the online questionnaire will be used to create a report outlining the scale and value of recreational fishing within the island’s territorial waters, while helping to shape future marine management.
Those taking part in the survey must be at least 18 years old.
The introduction to the study states that it aims to “build a clearer picture of the current state of recreational fishing in Jersey”.
“It will gather information on overall activity, what species are being caught (catch composition), how many fish are caught, and where recreational fishing takes place (spatial distribution), as well as the social and economic value of this sector,” it continued.
“The findings will be used to support marine management in Jersey that better reflects and incorporates recreational sea fishers in Jersey.
“The results will be brought together in a report, providing clear evidence of the scale and value of recreational fishing, including its cultural and economic value.”
