A letter accompanying the application says: “This can be utilised by holidaymakers and corporate guests alike to enjoy function events such as the Jersey International Air Display or in the case of holidaymakers, to enjoy a summer’s evening drink while observing spectacular sunsets.
“The terrace will be accessible directly from one of the hotel’s ground-floor function rooms to cater for inside / outside events.”
The Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel previously made a successful planning application in 2017 to build a terrace on its western edge but the permit has expired.
It is resurrecting the concept with some minor alternations, including a small reduction in the size of the terrace and the use of glazed balustrading, which matches what is already there, rather than posts and rails.

The hotel says that the plants there currently are not flourishing because it is so exposed, despite the vegetation having been replaced numerous times.
“The area is also commonly used as a toilet for passing dogs, despite efforts by [the manager] and his predecessors to control the situation,” it adds.
More than half of the existing planter section will be retained to the north-west of the hotel, if plans are approved.
A planted verge will separate the seating area from the promenade, which runs around the hotel and up to Jardins de la Mer and La Frigate.
