The island’s largest social housing provider has chosen its new CEO following a recruitment process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission.

Andium Homes confirmed that current Chief Finance and Operations Officer, Lindsay Wood, will replace outgoing CEO Ian Gallichan later this month.

Mr Gallichan announced his retirement in July last year after 11 years in the role.

Mrs Wood, who has been with Andium since its incorporation in 2014, will take up her new position on 22 April.

A chartered accountant, she has lived in Jersey since 2007 with her husband and two daughters.

Her previous experience also includes time working for the Housing Department as well as PwC.

Being responsible for housing to more than 10% of residents is a significant responsibility

Mrs Wood recently helped secure £100m of investment into Andium’s development programme, which is helping facilitate the construction of 250 new family homes for islanders.

She said: “I am tremendously proud to have been involved in the formation of Andium and to have contributed to the significant achievements led by my predecessor and the board.

“Ian certainly leaves big shoes to fill, but I am pleased to now have the privilege of leading Andium Homes through its next chapter, supported by our professional and dedicated team of colleagues.”

Andium is owned by the Government and currently manages more than 4,900 properties, providing homes and landlord services for over 10,000 islanders.

Mrs Wood continued: “Being responsible for housing to more than 10% of residents is a significant responsibility.

“Providing great homes and services to them will continue to be our focus, as we strive to continually improve and broaden what we offer.”

She added: “I also look forward to providing homes to many more islanders, for both rental and ownership.

“With almost 900 new homes in delivery, there has never been a better time for islanders to access our homes.

“I would encourage anyone looking to rent or buy to take a fresh look at the criteria to access one of our homes, as it has recently been broadened and may well now apply to them.”

Housing Minister Sam Mézec said he was “delighted” that Mrs Wood had been appointed.

“Lindsay has been a key figure in delivering on many of the projects that Andium has
pioneered in recent years to help alleviate Jersey’s housing crisis, and her passion for providing good quality affordable homes for islanders shines through in everything she does,” he continued.

“I am looking forward to working closely with her as the government and Andium tackle the housing challenges Jersey is still facing.

“I am also very grateful for the work of the outgoing CEO, Ian Gallichan, who has served Jersey with dedication and ought to be very proud of the legacy he leaves behind.”

Mr Gallichan said that Mrs Wood had been “a huge support” to him during his time as chief executive.

He added: “I have enjoyed working with her immensely, and as I transition to retirement I
know that I am leaving the company in very capable hands.

“I wish her every success as she takes Andium Homes and its talented and dedicated people forward on its continuing mission of delivering great homes and services for islanders.”

Chair of Andium Homes, Richard McCarthy, CBE, said that Mrs Wood had demonstrated “drive, commitment and leadership” throughout her career, including during the “rigorous” selection process for the role.

He added: “She takes over the helm at an interesting time where Andium’s increasing housing options for islanders is having a real impact and I know that Lindsay will bring her own ideas for further opportunities which will particularly focus on supporting our older residents, young families and also providing opportunities for young people to stay on the island and own their own home.”
