David Istrate Family and MAC architects have submitted a planning application to convert a commercial unit of Cyril Le Marquand Court – previously known as Ann Court – into a dessert shop.

Called ‘Sweet Spot’, the business will serve up desserts, sweets and cakes – including bubble waffles – which will all be made in-house.

Alongside this, the business will also sell milkshakes, soft drinks, hot chocolate and frappés.

The plans include provisions for three staff members in the shop, with a possibility of fourth – and ‘Grab & Go’ will be available, along with the standard sitting in and dining.

Cyril Le Marquand Court is in the latter stages of construction, with 80 homes already occupied.

The final phases of the scheme will see 85 more homes, a new public open space and a public and residents’ car park, with the remaining work due to be completed over the next 12 months.
