The café is run by Liam Montgomery and Selda Kumcur, who set up Cargo Café in 2018, after spending 10 years in Costa Rica.
They say that the café will offer “relaxed brunches, the finest coffee, fresh juices, decadent afternoon teas, cocktails and casual evening meals.”
It will also be extending times to 21:30 for cocktails and tapas from October onwards.

Phil Thomas, Jersey Heritage’s Director of Finance and Operations, said: “At the end of every chapter, a new one begins and we look forward to working with Liam and Selda at The Yard. Their energy and enthusiasm for the project is clear and we’re sure that old and new customers will enjoy supporting this exciting new venture at Jersey Museum.”
Liam and Selda said: “We are very excited to launch The Yard and humbled to be working with Jersey Heritage. Our time spent in Costa Rica, our travels around the world and our careers in hospitality have exposed us to the value of the tourism industry and the benefits of preserving culture and heritage.
“Through a variety of events, our hope is to demonstrate how heritage, whether natural, cultural or historical, is not just something to preserve for future generations but is, in fact, an asset that can be leveraged to bring real benefits to our local community and to visitors.”

Speaking to Express when they initially opened Cargo in 2018, Selda said that: “We have always been in hospitality and around people. I actually miss the big community that we had in the bar in Costa Rica and the friends we made there. We hope to recreate a community like this.”
With the opening of the new café, it seems that the community started with Cargo just got bigger.
