Organisers of a new music festival due to take place at the Watersplash this summer are hoping the event will help them continue to “showcase how good Jersey talent really is”.

Underground music events organisers The Loft, which also operates DJ mentorship and workshops through The Loft Academy, has revealed that ‘MONO FSTVL’ will be held on Saturday 22 August.

The day festival and after-party, which is coming to fruition after two years of planning, has also seen The Loft join forces with Regulate DnB.

MONO FSTVL will feature multiple stages both inside and outside the venue.

Speaking to Express, Francisco “Cisco” Brazao of The Loft highlighted a strong emphasis on local talent within the upcoming event.

He also noted that 60% to 70% of the Jersey DJs that will be performing at MONO FSTVL have come through The Loft Academy.

“It’s a platform where we want to push and showcase how good Jersey talent really is,” said Cisco.

“We really believe that there’s a strong community here in Jersey that loves music and is not being heard.”

He described the festival as “a very community-driven project”, which has been in the works for two years.

“It’s something that obviously we’re very passionate about and something that we want to keep pushing forward.”

Cisco said the Watersplash venue would be fenced off and turned into a “unique space” for the event.

“The Splash has given us so much throughout the years, in terms of developing our brand and everything else, so it just felt right to do it there,” he added.

“People like Piers [Dupoy] – who is the manager there – have been so helpful and you can really see that he also wants to help the scene and really push forward what we have here, so that’s something that I’m very excited about.”
