Graham Spence officially took on the role on Saturday, following a ceremony at the Masonic Temple attended by 30 Jersey Freemasons.

He will be the 13th person to take on the title. Ian Crosby has been appointed as his Deputy.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the group said: “History was made today for Jersey Freemasonry with the Installation of the 13th Provincial Grand Master of the Province, Right Worshipful Brother Graham Leonard Spence…

“On account of the required Government guidelines on social distancing and off-island visitors, the ceremony today could only be attended by 30 Jersey Freemasons.

“The new Provincial Grand Master appointed Worshipful Brother Ian Christopher Crosby as his Deputy. Not withstanding the constrained circumstances, it was a superb ceremony, in keeping with the guiding principles of Freemasonry: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Charity.”

Over the last year, Jersey Freemasons have donated £120,000 to local charities and causes, including investing £40,000 in “life-changing” technology for children with disabilities.
