A new route for next year’s Hospice half-marathon will allow more runners than ever to take part in the annual charity run.
Registration opens today for the 2027 event, which is set to take place on Sunday 21 March.
Organisers have confirmed that there will be a slight change to the course this year to avoid St Ouen’s Village.
The course will still start at The Hospice Shop West in St Ouen, before heading through the lanes of St Ouen, St Mary, and St John, and finishing at Jersey Hospice Care on Mont Cochon.
The change to the route means that organisers are able to make more places available to runners next year.
Race director Loraine Fulton said: “The event started to help others achieve their running goals while I was doing my own fundraising for the London Marathon in 2020 and I’m delighted to see how popular it’s become, raising more than £250,000 for Jersey Hospice Care.
“Our running community has so much affection for the Hospice Half. We welcome many of the same runners year on year, but it’s also a great route for anyone attempting their first half-marathon distance.”
Professional services firm EY is proudly sponsoring the sell-out event for a fifth year.
EY partner Francis Malaspina said: “We’re incredibly proud to once again support an event that raises vital funds for Jersey Hospice Care and the amazing work Hospice do for so many people and families in our community.
“It’s been wonderful to watch the event grow over the years and become such a special fixture in the local calendar.
“Seeing runners challenge themselves, often for deeply personal reasons, while raising money for such an important cause is always inspiring, humbling, and a powerful reminder of what our community can achieve when we come together.”
Funds raised from the half-marathon event support the palliative care services provided by Jersey Hospice Care, which cost £18,000 per day.
Early bird entry fees are available between Saturday 1 August and Monday 31 August, after which prices will increase to their full price until registration closes on Friday 14 March.
As well as the individual half-marathon distance, runners can also choose to participate in the two-person relay.
