A local flight training school has thanked those who helped bring about the new look of its Piper PA-28 Archer, which will now proudly carry the island’s colours every time it takes to the sky.

Skywalker Flight Training unveiled the aircraft’s updated appearance as it returned to the island this week following the repaint, which was carried out by Fast Aviation at Bournemouth Airport.

In addition to the Jersey flag and crest, it carries the logo of local business ATF Fuels, which contributed to the cost of the repaint, and of Helping Wings Jersey, a charity close to the Skywalker team’s hearts.

The aircraft was also re-registered as G-JJSY in another nod to the island.

“Jersey is our home, and we wanted our aircraft to show it,” said Skywalker Flight Training director Lee McConnell.

“Seeing the Jersey flag on her tail and JJSY on her side gives everyone at the club a real sense of pride.

“We’re hugely grateful to Fast Aviation at Bournemouth Airport for a brilliant paint job, and to ATF Fuels for backing a home-grown, local flight training school.

“We’re very passionate about aviation here, and anyone with an interest in flying is warmly welcome to come down to the Aero Club and find out what we do.”
