The States have announced a pre-construction partnership with J3 Limited – a joint venture between a local firm and two other stakeholders, who will be responsible for managing the hospital’s detailed design, site logistics and supply of resources, as well as calculating project costs.

Jersey’s Garenne Group will lead construction efforts, while FES Group will offer facilities management expertise.

Both will be supported by UK building and civil engineering contractor Sir Robert McAlpine – a firm that has worked on a number of notable UK projects, including the Olympic Stadium, the O2 Arena, Emirates Stadium, the Eden Project, the new US London Embassy and a new European headquarters for Bloomberg.

Together, they will use their expertise for the preliminary stages of the 50,000sqm build, which will contain 288 inpatient beds.

Minister for Infrastructure Deputy Eddie Noel described the new partnership as “exciting.”

Hector McAlpine, an Executive Partner of Sir Robert McAlpine echoed his remarks, adding that the project was “one which is of great importance to the people of Jersey.”

“The complementary skills and expertise the members of the J3 joint venture bring to this scheme, along with the collaborative ethos established to date, provide a great foundation for success. We look forward to building strong relationships with the States of Jersey and the local community as the scheme progresses.”

The new hospital is expected to open in 2022, and due to be fully operational by 2024.
