The States of Jersey Police have released an update on progress on “Operation Whistle”, revealing that there are 31 ongoing investigation, and four files currently waiting for a prosecution decision by the Law Officer’s department.

The statistics released this morning show that:

  • There are seven investigators on the team.

  • 71 allegations have been received.

  • 26 new complaints have been made since Operation Whistle went live in June 2015.

  • Four “institutions” are subject to on-going investigations.

  • 57 suspects have been identified, including 16 ‘Persons of Public Prominence’ or PPPs.

  • 33 of the suspects are dead, including 11 PPPs.

  • 41 named victims are currently engaged with officers.

  • Nine suspects have been arrested.

  • 13 have been interviewed under caution.

  • Two have been charged, with one conviction in February 2016.

  • Seven have been released on police bail pending further enquiries or legal advice.

  • Three files are currently with the Law Officers department for consideration of prosecution.

  • There are 31 on-going investigations.

  • Four UK investigations are being supported by the States of Jersey Police.
