An estimated 2,600 tonnes of carbon emissions have been saved from being released into the atmosphere thanks to a Government scheme to incentivise households to switch from fossil fuels to eco-friendly heating options.

One solid-fuel system, 328 gas systems and 380 oil systems have been replaced in homes across the island as part of the Low Carbon Heating Incentive.

The scheme offers payments towards replacing fossil fuel heating systems with greener technology as fossil fuel heating is responsible for 14% of Jersey’s residential emissions.

Up to £9,000 in match funding is available for heat pump installations, and £4,000 for electric flow boilers. Low‑income households can access up to £15,000 to reduce their carbon emissions.

The Low Carbon Heating Incentive, which launched in May 2023, will continue to accept applications through 2026.

Environment Minister Steve Luce said: “Every home is unique, and so is the perfect heating solution.

“Low-carbon systems can be tailored to your property so you can enjoy warmth and comfort built around your needs.”
