Things are going to brighten up over the next few days, and it’ll be a mix of sunny and cloudy over the three-day weekend. That comes after downpours have filled up the Island’s reservoirs – Jersey Water’s figures show they are 337 million litres fuller than this time last year.
Jersey Water’s Water Supply Manager Malcolm Berridge said: “We’re in a really really good position. We are 84.3% full, 337 mega-litres up on last year. This time last year we were 71.7% full so we are in a really strong position as far as our water resources are concerned.
“A quarter of the rainfall we’ve had to date this year fell in August.”
And the reservoirs have been filling up particularly fast this month.
The good news is that most of this week’s heavy downpours should clear by the weekend.
The Met Office are forecasting fair weather with sunny periods tomorrow, and say that Saturday and Sunday will see sunny periods and showers, and the rain should have stopped by the time that Bank Holiday Monday rolls around.
