GALLERY: Snapshots of lockdown

The photos range from images of graveyards to zoom music lessons, casting an eye on the massive variety of ways lockdown has been experienced across Jersey.

It comes after the Société put out a call for photographers in April to send in their best shots of lockdown life to build “an archive of portraits and observations, full of small details that capture our current reality and show how these changes are affecting the life of islanders”.

In the below gallery, the Société has shared the work of three local photographers: Dasa Wharton, Martin Toft and Sarah Martinez.

Discussing the experiences that inspired her photos, Sarah said: “Covid 19 has very much changed how we live and see our lives. In some ways it’s sad that before they go out, the kids have to check that we have masks, hand gel, tissues etc likewise before we go into a shop making sure we have cleaned our hands. But it’s also stopped us taking things for granted, even just the little things, such as seeing friends or family.”

For any other photographers wanting to add their own experiences, the Société has said it is still willing to accept images.
