The cottage is an outbuilding of the main Hautmont House building, a 17th century farmhouse located on Rue de La Mare des Pres.
The farmhouse is a grade 2 listed building due to architectural and historical interest.
It is described as “an important 17th century farmhouse, with potentially earlier origins, retaining interesting original historic features including a tourelle staircase.”

Several notable features in an accompanying listed building report include “main beams with chamfers interrupted by stops at intervals; western fireplace with joggled lintel supported by one granite pier and one corbel; eastern fireplace corbelled with lintel inscribed 1670 TCEV.”
Although they are not individually listed buildings, the reports suggests that the numerous outbuildings “retain historic features and contribute to the integrity of the group.”
The decision on the planning application, which has been graded as ‘Major’, is due next month.
