They say that there are no suspicious circumstances in the death of William Roper (72), whose body was found at 9.45 am.
The police launched an appeal for information on Friday morning, asking anyone who knew anything to get in touch.
An inquest into Mr Roper’s death is now due to take place.
The police statement said: “The States of Jersey Police can confirm the man found on St Ouen’s Bay on Friday morning was William Roper (23/08/1942). Mr Roper’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the Viscount.”
It is understood that Mr Roper’s body was found in the area of the bay that sits within the St Peter’s boundaries, which covers the middle part of the bay around the Watersplash.
