The incident, which did not involve a water pistol, took place in Burrard Street in Town at approximately 21:50-21:55 on Tuesday evening. It was reported to Police earlier in the week and they are now investigating.
The man’s wife took to social media to express her outrage at the incident.

Although the liquid – believed to be a drink other than water – was found to be harmless, the man’s wife later commented on the post saying that there is “nothing innocent” about the incident. She wrote: “This was totally deliberate. The people who did this might have thought it was funny but in light of what has happened recently there’s nothing funny about it at all.”
This incident follows a recent spate of high-profile acid attacks, including five assaults in London last week.
