The proposed design – by local artist Bokra (Ben Robertson) – features a historic local lifeboat coxswain and aims to engage the public with an understanding of the voluntary service, comprising of islanders willing to give their time and efforts to save lives at sea and assist those in difficulty.

The proposed mural will cover a significant portion of the northeast side of the lifeboat station.

The plans have been submitted by Godel Architects following recent approval for the larger ‘bunker mural’ on the Albert Pier, which has been created over one of the cast concrete structures from the Second World War.

According to the application, when the mural is no longer required, it is intended that the wall be repainted in its original finish, matching the rest of the building.

The application has been reviewed and is supported by Ports of Jersey.

The public can make comments until 29 August.
