An improved Revenue Jersey "supports thousands of jobs, attracts international investment and generates substantial tax revenues that help fund our public services", Senator Alan Maclean said.

A better relationship between Revenue Jersey and the finance industry will “remove unnecessary barriers” for businesses, help fund high-quality public services and improve international competitiveness, the Treasury Minister has said.

Senator Alan Maclean has announced a new initiative which will see key stakeholders across the financial services sector given the chance to shape improvements in how the Island’s tax office operates.

The initiative is drawn from the government’s Time to Win programme, which focused on supporting sustainable economic growth and allowing Jersey businesses to flourish.

It will include a “dedicated” Financial and Related Professional Services (FRPS) service within Revenue Jersey.

The precise arrangement of the new service will be subject to advice provided by businesses operating in Jersey.

Improvements planned for the revamped tax office include a more responsive service, greater specialist expertise; better communication and a renewed focus on international competitiveness.

Islanders working across the financial services sector have been invited to complete an online survey by Friday 10 November.

The findings of the survey will be shared in January 2027, and will inform the layout and implementation of the new service.

Interested parties across the FRPS sector can also attend an operational and compliance workshop taking place during the week commencing 16 November 2026.

Senator Maclean said that the government intends to use the new support service to deliver “faster, more efficient and more business-friendly engagement” with the FRPS sector.

“Jersey’s financial and related professional services sector is fundamental to our economic success,” he stated. “It supports thousands of jobs, attracts international investment and generates substantial tax revenues that help fund our public services.

“If we want Jersey to remain competitive and attract new business, we must ensure that Government services are efficient, responsive and understand the needs of the businesses they serve.”

“This is about improving the service the Government provides, not creating unnecessary jobs and bureaucracy”

He added that Revenue Jersey therefore has an “important role” to play in “making Jersey an easier and more attractive place to do business”.

The Minister said: “Our intention is to develop a dedicated FRPS support service within Revenue Jersey that delivers faster, more efficient and more business-friendly engagement with this strategically important sector.

“We will work directly with businesses and professional advisers to ensure the arrangements are practical, effective and deliver value for money.

“This is about improving the service the Government provides, not creating unnecessary jobs and bureaucracy.

“A strong and growing financial services industry is essential to Jersey’s prosperity and to our ability to fund high-quality public services.”
