New data has revealed which of Jersey’s roads have experienced the highest number of collisions and injuries over the past 20 years.

The response to a request made under the Freedom of Information Law revealed how many road traffic collisions had occurred on each island road over the past two decades, as well as the number of injuries which had arisen from these incidents.

Six of the top 10 most dangerous road are located in St Helier. The most dangerous road was Queen’s Road, which saw 315 collisions in the past 20 years.

The ten roads with the highest numbers of collisions since 2005 are:

  • Queen’s Road in St Helier (315 collisions)
  • Rouge Boullion in St Helier (313 collisions)
  • La Route de St Aubin in St Helier (258 collisions)
  • Beaumont Hill in St Peter (257 collisions)
  • La Rue à Don in Grouville (222 collisions)
  • La Route de la Libération in St Helier (214 collisions)
  • St Saviours Hill in St Saviour (213 collisions)
  • La Route du Fort in St Helier (209 collisions)
  • Esplanade in St Helier (206 collisions)
  • Halkett Place in St Helier and La Grande Route de St Clement in St Clement (both with 180 collisions)

St Helier remained as the dominating parish in terms of roads which have seen the highest number of injuries resulting from collisions in the past 18 years, featuring four times.

The ten roads with the highest numbers of injuries resulting from collisions since 2008, when data collection began, are:

  • La Grande Route de St Clement in St Clement (114 injuries)
  • La Route du Fort in St Helier (92 injuries)
  • La Rue à Don in Grouville (90 injuries)
  • Rouge Bullion in St Helier (89 injuries)
  • La Route de La Libération in St Helier (84 injuries)
  • Queen’s Road in St Helier (79 injuries)
  • La Grand Route de St Martin in St Saviour (76 injuries)
  • St Saviour’s Hill in St Saviour (75 injuries)
  • La Route de St Aubin in St Helier (74 injuries)
  • Beaumont Hill in St Peter (70 injuries)

St Helier proved overwhelmingly to be the most dangerous parish for road users, with 9,029 road traffic collisions recorded in the past 20 years, and 2,021 injuries from road traffic collisions in the past 18 years.

Contrastingly, St Mary was the safest parish in both categories, with just 354 collisions and 85 injuries.
