Drivers are being urged to take care on the roads following a spate of road collisions over the last 24 hours.

Emergency services are warning drivers to slow down and “drive to the conditions” amid hazardous road conditions caused by rainfall following a prolonged dry spell.

Police confirmed that no serious injuries occurred as a result of any of the recent incidents.

Inspector Lawrence Courtness, the States of Jersey Police’s Roads Policing lead, said: “After a dry period, the first rain can lift oil and grime to the surface, making roads slick and unpredictable.

“We’re asking all road users to slow down, allow extra space, and drive to the conditions.”

The warnings come as organisers of the Jersey International Motoring Festival confirmed that the weather could affect this weekend’s schedule.

While events are still set to go ahead as planned, they have said adjustments – particularly for classic vehicles – may be necessary depending on conditions.

In a statement, organisers said: “Unfortunately, the weather isn’t quite on our side.

“That said, we’re still aiming to go ahead with the JIMF Motoring Festival provisional schedule.

“Please note there may be some changes.”

Live updates will be shared on social media throughout Friday evening as the forecast develops.

The annual motoring event is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and includes a visit from former British Superbike champion Tommy Hill.
