The National Trust also complained that not enough detail about the development had been provided in the planning application.
Rocco’s has now published a full design statement, which states that the new developments will not negatively impact the protected zone.
They statement explains that the “existing building will be virtually unaltered”, with the exception of a “small staff toilet and storeroom”.

As such, they claim that the new plans “makes good use of an existing building, without any unreasonably negative impacts on the natural environment, nor on the Protected Coastal Area and Coastal National Park”.
Directors of Les Mielles Golf and Country Club and Roccos Activity Centre commented that the Bridging Island Plan’s policies “indicate this application should be supported”.
The application – which has been graded as ‘Major’ by Planning – will be decided at a later date.
