Rouge Bouillon is set to reopen next week after being closed for almost six months.
Work to fill the voids caused by the burst water main has now been completed, and the road is due to reopen before the morning rush hour on Monday 12 May.
The road was closed on 18 December 2024 after a burst water main created a sinkhole.
The building on the corner of Clarendon Road and Rouge Bouillon suffered “significant cracks” and was left “unstable” as a result.

In an update provided today, the Infrastructure & Environment department said: “Concrete to underpin parts of the building was poured on Wednesday, and structural engineers have now given approval for the road to open once the concrete has gained sufficient strength over the weekend.
“Inspection and monitoring will continue next week to ensure all measures taken have been effective.
“Road markings have been repainted in preparation for reopening.
“Pedestrian access through Rouge Bouillon will remain in place throughout the bank holiday weekend.”
