The hole, which was caused by a burst water main, first appeared on 18 December and the road has been closed since.
In an update issued this week, the Infrastructure and Environment Department said the building “continues to be monitored closely by building surveyors on behalf of property owners, as it is considered unsafe due to a risk of building collapse”.

“Until the building is considered safe and a course of action has been agreed by all parties involved, Rouge Bouillon (between Clarendon Road and Palmyra Road) will remain closed until further notice.
“The Government of Jersey continues to liaise with the property owners and their insurers, and are seeking a resolution to ensure the road can reopen as soon as it is safe to do so,” the statement added.
Diversions remain in place and Clarendon Road remains open southbound towards town. Pedestrian and residential access has been established to the lower parts of La Pouquelaye.

Nearby schools are to open as normal on Monday 6 January, but parents are encouraged to check emails from schools for further updates.
Motorists are also encouraged to allow extra time for their journey as delays are expected.
