Organisers confirmed that changes have been made to the North Coast stretch of tomorrow’s walk “for the safety of all walkers and volunteers”.
This will impact sections 3 and 4 of the Island Walk on Saturday.
A revised route at Grosnez will lead walkers alongside the Les Landes racecourse, rather than the cliffpaths, to then continue along the winding road to L’Etacq.
At Noirmont, organisers have confirmed that the checkpoint will be moved to Ouaisne Bay, in the car park opposite the Old Smuggler’s Inn pub.
After walkers have checked-in, they will continue up Mont Du Ouaisne, turning left at the top to rejoin the orignal route on La Rue de Haute.
Walkers’ bags will no longer be delivered to the new check point at Ouaise, and will be taken straight to the Waterfront finish instead.
Island Walk organisers have apologised for the last minute changes but stressed they have done so because the safety of all participants and volunteers is “paramount”.
