The Jersey office of the Royal British Legion has officially reopened following a major refurbishment.

The reopening ceremony took place last week and was led by the Lieutenant-Governor, Vice-Admiral Sir Jerry Kyd KBE, who is also a patron of the legion’s Jersey branch.

Sir Jerry unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the reopening of the Great Union Street site.

Representatives from the legion committee, partner organisations and contractors involved in the work also attended the event.

Sir Jerry said: “I think that we have achieved a balance between functionality and a welcoming vibe, with an attractive space to relax, have a coffee and a chat.

“I hope this new look encourages veterans and their families to drop in when they’re nearby.

“And just a reminder that we are always here to help and guide any veterans and family members that may need our assistance.”

The Jersey branch of the Royal British Legion provides guidance and practical and emotional support to members of the Armed Forces community and their families, including help accessing services and assistance when needed.

Veterans and family members seeking support are encouraged to contact the organisation directly.
