Katie said she got the idea after serving several men who were buying their wives or girlfriends flowers as an apology for being World Cup obsessed over the last weeks. She told Express: “Friday evening and Saturday morning were particularly busy with men softening the blow of another weekend of footy. [It was] the hottest weekend of the year so far and they had plans to sit in the pub watching footie when they should be on the beach!”
Although Katie had to close the shop early to make preparations for her daughter’s birthday party, she didn’t want to leave the apologetic husbands and boyfriends in the lurch, so she decided to leave a free ‘emergency bouquet’ outside the shop for someone to take home.

The note on the ‘emergency bouquet’ read: “Please take me home if you find yourself under the influence of football and have neglected your partner all day. Good Luck!”
Katie said she’s been very entertained by the response to her bouquet giveaway. She said: “It was done as a bit of joke but the response has been hilarious, so many people have liked and shared the posts and sent messages asking for more information – has the bouquet gone? Who found it? Where is it now? Have the flowers saved a marriage?”

The flowers were quickly snapped up, and Katie says that she’s already planning another football giveaway if England progress to the semi-finals after tomorrow’s match against Croatia.
She said: I’ve already promised that when we get to the final I’ll give another bouquet away, but this time I’ll ask the public to nominate a football obsessed fan who has completely neglected their partner over this entire period and we’ll deliver it on their behalf. I’ve even found a football balloon to really make it special.”
When asked what her prediction was for tomorrow’s match, all Katie said was: “It’s coming home!”
