Guernsey law enforcement officials warned this afternoon that the messages are advising islanders that they may be able to claim a refund via their credit or debit cards.

However, the links in the messages lead to fake websites.

They’re now advising islanders to delete any suspicious messages and to follow official channels to make claims.

NatWest International customers have, however, received genuine text advice from the bank.

It has been advising its local clients to register a claim by completing an online form on its website, but to contact Flybe or any travel provider they have booked through in the first instance.
