Trinity Primary School has been given planning permission to transform the former caretaker’s store into a community space for after-school activities.
The application was approved this week.
The small storage space is now set to include toilets and a sink, worktop and fridge, as well as a teaching space.
The plans also include a lower ceiling and a window, and the thermal envelope to be upgraded.
The application pointed out that Trinity School had an unusual design, made up of two buildings, and that additions made over the years were done “sympathetically and in keeping with the existing listed building”.
The school’s main building is Grade 3 listed and the plans for the caretaker’s store had to be amended to include an aluminium window, rather than uPVC, before it could be approved.
The school said they hoped they could provide “a small facility that could benefit the local community of Trinity”.
Constable Philip Le Sueur had written in support of the project.
