Local growers and gardening enthusiasts are invited to come together for a seed swap event aimed at encouraging sustainable growing and sharing resources.

Seedy Saturday will take place this weekend at Le Tâcheron Farm.

The event aims to celebrate community growing, reduce waste, and help people discover new flowers and vegetables to try this season.

Attendees can bring any packets of seeds – saved or spare – and receive one voucher for each packet. Vouchers can then be exchanged for other seeds on the day.

Those without seeds to swap are welcome to join in by making a small donation towards running costs.

The event will offer a range of flower and vegetable seeds, along with a small selection of seedlings for those who prefer a head start.

Visitors can also pick up free pollinator-friendly seeds and choose from a selection of free gardening tools, helping new growers get started without cost being a barrier.

Guests can also enjoy tea, coffee, and homemade cake, and chat with friendly local growers about what to plant, when to sow, and how to support wildlife in their gardens.

Grow Jersey founder Sheena Brockie said: “Seed swaps are a brilliant way to share abundance, reduce waste, and help people try something new.

“Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, everyone is welcome.

“We would especially like to thank Ransoms Garden Centre, Le Tacheron Farm and The Good Jersey Life for their support for this event.”

Seedy Saturday will take place from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 28 March at Le Tâcheron Farm in Trinity.
