The alleged offence – being “knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion of the prohibition in force with respect to the importation of a Class A controlled drug” – took place on 16 November.
Mr Sheppard was charged the following day at the Elizabeth Terminal.

Legal Adviser Susie Sharpe told Court that the quantity of cocaine involved in the case meant that it was too serious to be dealt with by the Magistrate’s Court.
The presiding Relief Magistrate, David Le Cornu, agreed and referred the case to the Royal Court, where it will be heard in January 2020.
No application for bail was made by Mr Sheppard’s legal representative, Advocate Alison Brown.
Mr Sheppard was subsequently remanded in custody.
