The move will see speed limits drop by 10mph from their current limits inside the St Helier ring road, as well as at Havre des Pas.

It comes after St Helier’s Roads Committee, which is Chaired by Constable Simon Crowcroft, voted unanimously in favour of the speed reduction back in April.

The suggestions followed a consultation, to which around 60 parishioners responded.

Speaking at the time, Constable Crowcroft told Express that they had largely welcomed the idea, and that he hoped it would make the parish a safer place for all members of the community.

“Why should St Aubin’s village, St Peter or St Mary benefit from lower speed limits when they are far more people living in the streets of St Helier trying to walk, cycle and bring up their families? Why should they be denied the right to be safer?” he questioned.
