A social enterprise is set to take over lunchtime service at a popular St Helier restaurant this week as part of a collaboration in support of inclusive employment.

On Thursday 20 November, Beresford Street Kitchen staff will be in charge of the front-of-house lunchtime service at The Square at Weighbridge Place.

During the shift, the team will be welcoming guests, seating diners and delivering “exceptional service”, the charity said.

Beresford Street Kitchen is a social enterprise providing, education, training and employment to islanders with learning disabilities and autism to boost employability and remove barriers to the workplace.

Chief executive Gabby Elmers said: “We are thrilled to partner with The Square for this takeover event.

“Opportunities like this allow our crew to put their skills into practice, building confidence, independence and meaningful pathways into employment.”

The Square assistant manager Alex Balbose added: “We’re proud to support Beresford Street Kitchen’s incredible work.

“Our team is excited to welcome the crew and help showcase the value of an inclusive workforce.”

Members of the public are encouraged to visit The Square this Thursday to support the charity’s work while eating lunch out.

All service charges and additional donations received on the day will go directly to Beresford Street Kitchen.
