Just two weeks ago, Mark, who was known as ‘The Fish’, was presented with the Citizen of the Year Award.

On Saturday Mark took part in his last charity event, a Treasure Trail, with St Aubins Residents’ Association.

Over the past 20 years Mark raised funds for various charities, notably The Spina Bifida Association, and The Jubilee Sailing Trust.

In a posting on Facebook, the Residents’ Association announced Mark’s death and paid tribute to his charity work.

They said: “Mark Le Riche, known as Mark The Fish, has died suddenly after a happy day spent with The Residents Association playing an enormous role in The Treasure Trail yesterday afternoon. During the evening he felt unwell and was taken to hospital where he died last night.

“A fortnight ago, The Connetable presented Mark with The Citizen of The Year Award of which Mark was so very proud. He fought for the pétanque pitch and encouraged us to participate every Sunday morning, he dressed up in fancy dress to raise awareness and funds for Spina Bifida amongst other charities, and The Jubilee Sailing Trust.

“We will inform you of his funeral arrangements. We are saddened at the loss of this charismatic man.”
