After starting the fire by accident during the afternoon of Liberation Day, the boys ran to alert their parents. A team of five firefighters was able to bring the fire under control quickly although the Fire Service said that if the wind had been blowing in a different direction, the outcome could have been much worse.
Following the incident, they issued a warning to the public urging people to be careful when disposing of their BBQ’s or cigarettes and when having bonfires.
