Like lots of other groups of work colleagues, Jersey’s politicians are sorting out their annual Christmas Work Do. And like lots of other groups of work colleagues, they’re going to have to fork out for themselves.
States Members are heading back to Highlands College restaurant for their Christmas meal after being impressed by wonderful food and service at last year’s event.
Organising the event is one of the duties of the States chief clerk – Greffier Michael de la Haye – who sent out a quick note earlier this week saying that the event was going ahead on 11 December, and clarifying one important point after some recent news stories.
In an email to politicians, Mr de la Haye wrote: “For the benefit of new Members I would point out that no taxpayers’ money is used for this lunch and everyone needs to pay for their own food and drink.
“Luckily we get a very competitive price from Highlands and the lunch last year was worth every penny.”
