A local schoolteacher has raised over £1,600 by swimming 60 lengths, cycling 60 miles and walking 60 kilometres to represent the 60 men across the globe who lose their lives to suicide each hour.
Kalem Taylor has raised over £1,600 for national men’s health charity Movember UK following the completion of his extreme fundraiser.
Published earlier this year, Jersey’s suicide prevention strategy revealed that, between 2012 and 2021, 68% of all suicides in the island involved men.

The document also showed that men were 2.1 times more likely than women to take their own lives.
Mr Taylor explained that he was taking on the challenge for “all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives”.
He began the challenge at 6am last Saturday morning and finished just after midnight on the Sunday – bringing his total time to 19 hours.
Mr Taylor has since raised more than double his initial £600 fundraising target for his chosen charity – which supports those affected by prostate cancer and testicular cancer, and focuses on mental health and suicide prevention.
“I’m so pleased to say that I completed it all,” he said.
“The final 30k of the walk was the toughest but at least the weather was on my side.
“It was not easy to say the least, but was for an amazing cause.”
