Appearing before Magistrate Bridget Shaw, the two 16-year-olds, who cannot be named, admitted their involvement in trying to smuggle drugs into Jersey.
The Magistrate sentenced the boy to 90 hours of community service and put him on probation for a year.
“If you were an adult you would be facing custody,” she told him.
“By involving somebody else you caused harm to her and her family as well.”
She also gave the girl a one-year probation order, saying: “Every 16-year-old knows that cannabis is illegal.
“If you were older we would have to look at custody.”
