A gathering intended to help connect the Thai and Jersey communities through language learning, cultural exchange and education is set to take place at the Town Hall tomorrow.

The event, hosted by the Thai Language & Culture Centre, is scheduled to be held from 9.30am to 1pm.

Four Buddhist monks are among those due to attend the Thai-Jersey Community Gathering, which is open to people of all faiths and none.

One of the organisers, Dararat Lorimer, explained that event “aims to bring together people from all communities across the island, while supporting education, community welfare and religious understanding”.

She said: “We recognise the importance of moral education and honour, outstanding contributions to lasting world peace, social service and human development. We are dedicated to promoting peace and advocating good governance.”

Ms Lorimer continued: “Our goal is to build an education bridge for future generations, connecting the Thai and Jersey and all communities through language learning, cultural exchange, education and wellbeing.

“We welcome opportunities to work alongside schools, community organisations and public institutions in Jersey and beyond, building partnerships that encourage mutual understanding, compassion and friendship.”
