The S Bar in La Motte Street had been refused permission by the Bench to put some seats and tables outside so that patrons can enjoy the sunshine with a pint, despite the fact that their proposal was backed by the Parish of St Helier and the Transport and Technical Services department.
Traders in the area had also signed a petition saying that they supported the idea.
But a deal has now been struck that will allow them to have a small al fresco area from 11 am onwards, so long as the area is free for use as an unloading bay early in the morning.
St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft said that other town pubs could get a similar deal to share space.
He said: “The court was shown a petition by almost all of the traders on La Motte Street who supported this. I made the point that the al fresco facilities in La Motte Street were part of the original refurbishment when it was redesigned 12 years ago.
“The idea of sharing the space was always the intention, indeed it’s something that has been looked at for the Blue Note in Broad Street.”
