Tributes have been paid to a “huge character” and “passionate chef” who worked at Mark Jordan at the Beach.

Chris Adams, who died recently, was remembered in a social media post by head chef Mark Jordan.

The pair worked together for more than 15 years across several kitchens, including at The Atlantic Hotel, as well as at The Cow & Lobster and, most recently, at Mark Jordan at the Beach.

Mark said he would always remember his fellow “Brummie” as a “passionate chef that had a real talent for flavour”.

“His knowledge of food was also impressive,” he wrote. “Chris was a huge character in the kitchen, frustrating at times but hugely entertaining at most.”

The head chef also highlighted the dishes Chris loved to cook, such as his plum tomato and goat’s cheese tarte tatin, which, Mark joked, were occasionally “burnt under the grill”.

“You will leave a huge space in my kitchen Chris, and [be] missed by all the boys,” he added.

“We had so many fun times in the kitchen – too many to post here, but I will remember those times for a very long time.”

Tributes were also shared by friends and former colleagues of Chris on social media.

One wrote: “Awfully sad news. Chris was great fun and a lovely chap.”

Another added: “I worked with Chris at L’Horizon in 2012 and he was a very good chef with plenty of knowledge to share.”

A third said: “He has left a big hole in my heart.”

Others remembered their time working alongside Chris, with one comment reading: “He was a great guy and will definitely be missed.

“I also worked with him for a short time at the Atlantic Hotel; what a great chef and character he was.”
