The incident happened off the Demie des Pas lighthouse on the Island’s south coast, just after five in the evening.

Although the town lifeboat, and the Fire and Rescue Service Inshore Rescue Boat with five personnel from Blue Watch were launched, the kayakers – two adults and a child – were picked up by two boats that had heard the rescue alert.

Once the casualties had been rescued they were transported to St.Helier harbour, no one is believed to have been injured.

Watch Commander Walker said “Thankfully the Kayakers were able to raise the alarm by contacting Jersey Coast Guard and were rescued without injury, The RNLI advise the following – Always carry a means of calling help and keep it within reach. Wear a floatation device. Check the weather and tides. Tell someone else where you’re going and when you’ll be back. Wear appropriate clothing for the conditions and your trip. Get trained”.
