“Angela is a local lady who works in the care industry. She is well loved girl with lots of friends, so we are hoping to get as much help for her as possible,” their GoFundMe page reads.
“After a holiday visiting family, she became unwell and was admitted to the hospital.
“Unfortunately, Angela got worse and is in Intensive care on a ventilator and very sick.
“Her family needs her home in Jersey; she has a young daughter who needs her mum close.”

It adds: “Angela’s partner, Suzette, is one of our fantastic ICU nurses here in Jersey, and after years of looking for the sickest islanders and saving countless lives, she now needs our help.
“The medical repatriation costs are likely huge, so any amount we can raise will help; however little you have, every penny will count.
“Please help get Angela home to her family.”

Nearly 200 people have so far answered the call for help, raising more than £9,500 – though that is still a long way off the full cost of the repatriation flight from South Africa, which Suzette, who has travelled to South Africa to be with Angela, is also looking to part-fund with loans and/or the sales of personal possessions.
Members of the local dog walking community – of which Angela is an active part, being the owner of five-year-old Shih-Tzu Bichon Havens cross Kiki – are also coming together to raise money,
A fundraising dog walk from Le Braye has been scheduled for 23 October.
