Visit Jersey has been granted an extra £500,000 in government funding to boost its marketing and help fill additional airline seats secured for next year.
The top-up grant, approved by the Economic Development Minister Gerald Voison, will be funded from the Economy Department’s 2026 underspends.
The decision report says the hospitality sector has enjoyed an improved season compared with 2025, but that continued growth is vital to help stabilise businesses facing rising costs and relatively low visitor numbers in recent years.
The funding is aimed at “pump-priming” Visit Jersey’s marketing efforts, allowing the organisation to secure advertising space and campaigns before the end of this year.
Pump-priming is an economic policy where a government injects money into a stagnant economy in a bid to stimulate private-sector activity and spark self-sustaining growth.
A report accompanying the funding decision said: “Additional air capacity has been secured for 2027, and Visit Jersey will work at pace to fill these seats and deliver additional bed nights for the Island’s hospitality sector.”
The investment supports the government’s aim of increasing overnight leisure visits and total visitor spending, according to the report.
The payment will be made “at the earliest opportunity”.
