The illuminated snake of walkers and their dogs – many of whom were also lit up with flashing collars and bright coats – held battery-operated candles and wore luminous hi-vis vests.
Chairman of the charity, Frank Walker, said he was overwhelmed with the level of community support shown for Sanctuary Trust and the work it does to help its residents – many of whom have hit a crisis in their lives and have nowhere else to turn.
He commented: “Over twice as many walkers took part this year and we were delighted to be joined by the Lt Governor; Air Chief Marshal, Sir Stephen Dalton and his wife Lady Dalton as well as a number of States Members, families with young children, walking and fitness groups, a Guernsey contingent, residents of Sanctuary Trust and many others.”
He said early indicators show that the fundraising target of £10,000 had been smashed with cheques and online donations still coming in.
“Every penny raised will go back into charity funds as all of our event overheads have been covered thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, Jersey Electricity. On behalf of our residents at Sanctuary Trust, I would like to personally thank them for their continued support of this annual event.”
