The first Loganair “rescue” flights landed in Jersey this afternoon – less than 36 hours since the Scottish airline confirmed it was taking over Blues Islands’ routes.
It comes after the Jersey-based airline announced on Friday night that it was suspending all operations.
Loganair stepped in on Saturday morning to offer “rescue” flights for affected passengers, and Aurigny confirmed later the same day that it would also fly between Jersey and Guernsey.
The first two Loganair planes arrived in Jersey this afternoon, ahead of its first flights to Southampton and Guernsey at 15:30 and 15:45.
The first Loganair arrivals are due to touch down in Jersey this evening at 17:10 from Guernsey and 17:50 from Southampton.
Loganair CEO Luke Farajallah said yesterday: “We understand how important dependable air links are, both for island residents and visitors, and we have a 63-year heritage of serving the regions of the UK.”
He also confirmed plans for the airline to establish a “new permanent operating base in Jersey”.
