Harry Fenn’s message comes as all islanders are being told to limit contact with people outside of their homes.
After advising islanders over-65 to restrict their social contact, the government extended that to all islanders, describing the move as a “crucial part” of their strategy to prevent COVID-19 from spreading in the island.

It means everyone in Jersey should observe the following principles strictly.
- Reduce contact with people outside your household.
- Keep a distance of at least 1 metre (3 feet) between you and other people when outside your own home.
- Avoid public gatherings and all venues and businesses where social distancing is not obviously possible or promoted by the venue.
- Stay home whenever possible, including working and studying from home whenever it is possible to do so.
- And reduce to essential travel only, and practice social distancing if you need to use public transport.

In a video published on Liberation 75’s Facebook page, Mr Fenn urged islanders to heed the government’s advice.
“In 1944, I served my country and did my duty. Now it’s your duty to sit on the couch.
“Please save lives. It’s as simple as that.”
